Peter Peifer, PAC
Peter actually started his medical training in Ohio. A move to the west coast saw Mr. Peifer continue his career in surgery before resuming further training at Oregon’s Physician Assistant program, where he graduated with honors and was the recipient of the Professional Recognition Award. After passing his national boards, he practiced internal medicine at a university branch clinic and taught physical exam skills and differential medical diagnosis part-time at Oregon Health Sciences University.
He later joined the cardiothoracic surgery team at the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, Arizona before relocating to Zanesville.
Peter enjoys spending time with his family. His wife Karen is a physical therapist and volunteers at St. Nicholas School. The oldest child, Neal, is in sales in Gallipolis. Jamie, a college student, recently relocated here from the west coast, while Katie is a 5th grader at St. Nicholas who loves to sing and dance. The other member of the family is Teddy, a black daschund who runs the house!
Other favorites include college sports, especially the North Carolina Tar Heels and the Oregon Ducks. He also enjoys reading, computers, walking and getting away tot he beach or mountains.
Physician Assistants are healthcare professionals licensed to practice medicine in association with a physician. Peter’s extensive medical and surgical background gives Dr. Madson’s patients an additional resource to assist in managing their healthcare needs.
Renee, biller
Renee graduated from West Muskingum High School in 1982. She them obtained a degree in Medical Office Management in 1990. She then worked for Genesis Health Care Systems for 13 ½ Yrs in Patient Access and insurance verification. She also worked for another local vascular surgeon as a receptionist and biller. She came to work for Dr Madson in 2007. She loves spending time with her husband of 24yr Keith and her two daughters Amber who is the manager of a local store, and Tessa who is a freshman at West Muskingum High School.

If you have leg or arm pain and swelling you may have blood clots in your veins, especially after an injury or after you have had a total knee or hip replacement with an operation. If you have mini-strokes, an artery in your neck (the internal or common carotid) may be closing up with plaque and not “feeding” blood flow properly to your brain. Perhaps your legs cramp when you walk a certain distance. I can check the blood flow going down your legs into your feet to see if perhaps your arteries are “clogging up” with plaque. Don’t ever be afraid of having vascular ultrasound done - it’s a “piece of cake”!
Heather, receptionist
My name is Heather and I am the receptionist at Dr. Madson’s office. I grew up here in Zanesville Ohio, where I graduated from Maysville High School in 2005. I spend my extra time with my family, I live with my boyfriend, Ryan, who just recently got out of the Navy. My mother, Shari, is actually a CMA here at Dr. Madson’s office, so I get to spend a lot of time with her! My father drives a truck for Culligan. I have an older sister, Alisha, and a younger brother, Justin; I also have a very special 6 year old niece, Madison. When I'm not with my family I also enjoy shopping, being outdoors, and reading.
Shari, nurse
Shari is a Certified Medical Assistant at Dr. Madson’s office. After graduating from Tri Valley High School and staying home with her three children until the youngest was three years old she decided to pursue a career in the medical field and graduated from Zane State College on June 7, 1997. She obtained her certification shortly thereafter through the AAMA.
She began working at a podiatric surgeon’s office here in
Zanesvilleand also has worked for a family practice as a medical assistant and phlebotomist as well as for an OB/GYN physician for six years as the medical assistant. In September 2007 she accepted the position as medical assistant here at Dr. Madson’s office.
